Going to the gym every day is more often than not considered a task. Let’s be honest here, how many of us genuinely enjoy going to the gym every day? if you just thought ‘not me’, then this article is just for you. After joining a group fitness class, I realized that it was not only more fun and energetic, it was also the perfect way to socialize with people. Here are a few perks of group fitness classes:

1) Surplus motivation:

The best thing about group classes is that you get to stay motivated throughout the session. The fitness coach keeps hyping the class and pushing everyone to do better. You also constantly feel the need to perform better than everyone else and not give up before the people beside you do. There is a low-key competitive vibe in the air (or an extreme one in my case since I’m eminently competitive)

2) Fun

Working out by yourself can get very boring and monotonous. Most Group fitness classes are designed in such a way that different routines are followed every day. The coaches also may change every day and not to mention a different crowd every day. Group classes are very interactive and the coaches make sure everyone enjoys the workout.

3) Opportunities to mingle

Group classes are one of the places where you get to meet people of all sizes, ages and ethnicities. Everyone comes there for just one purpose: burn calories. There’s no room to judge anyone based on their weight. Making friends also serves as a motivational tool since you’ll want to attend the class to meet them. Moreover, there’s a scientific study that states that working out with others results in higher endorphin levels which are the feel-good hormones. Hence you feel more elated and psyched after a successful group session.

4) Certified fitness experts

Since the trainers have to train a lot of people at once, gyms make sure they recruit the best trainers. These trainers usually have the best communication skills and not to mention incredible energy. Many classes have more than one trainer monitoring the class and ensuring everyone’s form is perfect.

5) Variety

The best part about group classes is that they constitute of a variety of workouts. They are usually a mixture of cardio, kick-boxing, yoga, strengthening etc. This ensures that you don’t get bored of the same workout routines over.
